Pricing: what you pay and who gets it
nyfinepay is an independent private service, not the City of New York. You can always pay the city directly, which may cost less.
Here is every line you can see on a nyfinepay bill, who receives it, and how it is set. The exact total is always shown before you enter card details, and again on the payment step.
The lines on your total

We do not charge a service fee at this time. You pay what the city charges and nothing on top. If that ever changes, the fee will be shown as its own line before you pay, like every other line.

Paying the city directly
nyfinepay is an independent private service, not the City of New York. You never have to use us. The city’s payment site is CityPay, and its app is NYC Parking Ticket Pay or Dispute.
The city says it adds a 2% fee to card, PayPal and Venmo payments, and no fee to electronic check or to payments by mail. So the same $100.00 ticket costs $100.00 by electronic check with the city, $102.00 by card with the city, and $102.00 with us. We think you should know that before you choose. Why the total can change
Ticket amounts come from the city’s records when you search. A late penalty can be added, or a payment can post, between your search and your payment. If the amount on a ticket has changed by the time we submit your payment, we show you the new amount first. We do not charge a higher amount without your approval.
Refunds
See our refund policy. In short: if you contact us before we submit your payment, we cancel it. After that, refunds of fines are decided by the city.
